Man Trapped In Rising Waters
Rescue crews in Green River, Utah, rushed to save a man found clinging to a bush after sudden floodwaters swept through the area. The dramatic incident unfolded Saturday afternoon.
Call For Help
According to Sheriff Tyson Huntington, dispatchers received a distress call shortly after 4 p.m. A person was reported trapped in a wash near Airport Road as water levels surged rapidly.
Swift Emergency Response
Deputies, the Green River Fire Department, and city public works crews quickly mobilized. They arrived with ropes, heavy machinery, and other gear, determined to reach the stranded man.
Civilian Joins The Rescue
As officials organized their strategy, a local resident stepped in with an inflatable canoe. His quick thinking offered rescuers a new option to reach the victim despite the swift current.
Canoe Launched Into Flood
The canoe was secured to a front-end loader for stability before being pushed into the raging waters. Two rescuers – Deputy Josh Opp and resident Kent Nelson – paddled into the current.
Life Jacket And Safety Secured
The pair managed to reach the stranded man, fit him with a life jacket, and pull him safely into the canoe. The team successfully brought him back to dry land despite dangerous conditions.

After being rescued, the man was transported to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed he sustained only minor injuries, a fortunate outcome considering the intensity of the flood.

The National Weather Service had already issued a flash flood warning earlier in the day. Rainfall totals reached nearly 4 inches in parts of the Saleratus Wash, worsening the crisis.
