Tesla No Longer Leads EV Growth

It’s official: Tesla has lost its title as the fastest-growing electric vehicle brand in the U.S. Surprisingly, it’s not Rivian taking the crown either. In 2025, Chevrolet from General Motors has claimed the spotlight.
GM’s EV Surge Begins

Chevy’s momentum started in late 2024 with the launch of new electric models such as the Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado. With sales surging 50% in the last quarter, GM proudly announced itself as the “fastest-growing high volume EV manufacturer in the U.S.”
Market Share Doubles

In the fourth quarter of 2024, GM’s U.S. electric vehicle market share doubled to nearly 12.5%. By midyear, GM had surpassed Ford, securing the second position in EV sales, behind only Tesla.
Equinox Sales Drive Growth

The Chevy Equinox EV led the charge, with Q4 sales climbing 85% over the previous quarter. Despite being introduced only last year, it ranked as the ninth best-selling EV in the U.S. by the end of 2024.
JD Power Recognizes Chevrolet

According to JD Power, Chevrolet is now the fastest-growing EV brand in America. Their March forecast revealed that 23% of consumers are “very likely” to consider an EV for their next purchase, signaling ongoing stability in the market.
Tesla’s Declining Share

While Chevy and Rivian gained ground, Tesla saw its market share drop from 56% in 2024 to just 50% in 2025. The trend highlights an increasingly competitive EV landscape.
Equinox EV: Affordable Range

Chevrolet promotes the Equinox as “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV.” The LT FWD model offers up to 319 miles per charge, priced from $33,600, with both LT and RS trims available in FWD and AWD.
Blazer EV Expands Options

The 2025 Blazer EV SS opened for orders recently, offering FWD, AWD, and RWD configurations. Available in LT, RS, and SS trims, it delivers up to 312 miles of range and starts at $45,995.
Competitive Pricing With Credits

Despite tariff pressures and tax credit debates, buyers can still claim the $7,500 federal rebate. With this incentive, an Equinox EV effectively costs around $26,000, while the Blazer EV drops to roughly $37,500 – making them highly competitive in the market.
Chevrolet’s EV Future

By pairing affordable pricing with range and variety, Chevrolet has positioned itself as a strong contender in the EV race. GM’s growth signals a serious challenge to Tesla’s dominance in the years ahead.
